Nervous faces turned into beaming smiles as students flocked to pick up their GCSE results at a Rothwell school today.
Montsaye Academy, in Greening Road, Rothwell, had 93 per cent of its pupils achieve at least five A* to C grades in their GCSEs.
The results, which came out today, also show 55 per cent of those students passed both maths and English.
Associate principal, Jason Cumming, said: “We are all very pleased with the results this year.
“They are a testament to the hard work of the students and staff alongside the support of parents and family.”
More than two thirds of students - 72 per cent - passed maths with A* to C grades.
However, the school said it will appeal some of its English Language resulte.
About 55 per cent of students passed their English Exams, and the Academy has said it will appeal some of the results back as many students were predicted Cs.
Despite this, 16 per cent of pupils gained an English Baccalaureate
