Members of the Rotary Club of Wellingborough Hatton, led by Rotarian Bob Parfitt, have linked up with “Let’s do it! World” to help save the planet from the garbage that we are sinking into. This month a few Rotarians and partners went out and cleared an area off the Hardwick Road in Wellingborough, collecting 10 sacks of rubbish which included over 200 beer cans, five boxes of used needles, a pushchair, a radio and a sledge, all of which weighed over 100kgs.
The idea was inspired by a civic led mass movement which began in Estonia during 2008 when 50,000 people gathered to clean up the entire country in just five hours. This is now an international movement with over 100 countries working together, engaging over 10 million participants.
The movement’s aim is to clean up the world of illegally dumped solid waste. Anyone who would like to organise a “Let’s do it” clean up in their area can email Bob Parfitt at firstname.lastname@example.org
