Pupils at Weldon Primary School celebrated their annual June Rose Day event with a procession and crowning of a king and queen.
This year’s king and queen were Warren Hackley and Katie Ahearn, both 11, from Year 6, and they were followed onto the school playing field by their attendants and the Year 6 children.
After the procession, children performed maypole dances, country dances and a highland dance, and were watched by parents and family members.
Two hundred balloons were released, representing every child in the school, and afterwards there was a fun day with a barbecue, cream teas, miniature train rides and bouncy castles.
The event was organised by the parents, friends and teachers association at the school.
