Revised plans have been submitted for a new rail bridge and crossing as part of a major housing development.

Bovis Homes, the developer behind Wellingborough’s Stanton Cross development, has updated its designs for a new rail bridge and river crossing for the area.

The initial designs, which had previously been approved by Wellingborough Council, have been adapted to improve the longevity of the bridge structures and ensure they will retain a high quality appearance for a greater number of years.

In line with public feedback, Bovis Homes has ensured the new designs of East River Bridge and West Rail Bridge reflect many of their original features.

Bovis Homes has also worked closely with the council to develop the latest designs, ensuring they are both in-keeping with the initial plans and complement the local architecture and landscape.

The proposed plans have been submitted to Wellingborough Council for consideration with a view for construction to begin during summer 2016.

“We have updated the designs of these new bridges to ensure our infrastructure will stand the test of time whilst complementing the local area.

“We have made sure that many of the original features that were popular with local residents have been reflected in these designs, ensuring that these two new crossings seamlessly work with the surrounding architecture and landscape.”

Construction is already under way at Stanton Cross with the delivery of the first wave of new homes and community facilities anticipated to be complete in early 2017.

When complete, Stanton Cross will comprise of 3,650 homes, transport infrastructure, schools, community facilities and new parks and green spaces.
