As Higham Ferrers Town Council was preparing for the event, they dug out these pictures of when the Queen paid a visit to the town back in 1985.

She was accompanied by Prince Philip as she visited the Duchy of Lancaster estates in Northamptonshire on May 3, 1985.

Clive Wood, who was chairman of East Northamptonshire District Council at the time, greeted the Queen as she arrived in the town with scores of people lining the streets to catch a glimpse of the royal visit.

The Evening Telegraph, as it was then known, reported on the visit with the headline ‘Queen of Hearts.’
