Residents of a Wellingborough care home have been using modern technology to stay in touch with family members living abroad.

Two elderly residents of Bilton Court Care Home, Windermere Drive, have been emailing loved ones in Thailand and America.

Connecting with relatives online has made it easier for Mary Groves and Doris Dodd to get over the time difference which separates them and their loved ones.

The home’s activities coordinator, Ann Headland said: “It has made a lot of difference, and it definitely helps them to keep in touch with their families.

“It is a case of using modern technology which they don’t really understand, but we have been doing it with them.

“Because of the time differences, it is easier for them to keep in touch on email, and they can send pictures to each other.

“If someone has got family abroad, or that doesn’t live locally, it is something that we can do with them to help them to stay in touch.”
