A COUNTY theatre has appointed a resident composer through a prestigious national scheme.
The Royal & Derngate in Northampton is part a prestigious new national scheme which sees award-winning resident composer Dougal Irvine joining the staff for six months.
Mr Irvine, who will be taking up the post later this month, is a writer and composer for theatre and television.
He will write theatre scores for two of the three productions in Royal & Derngate’s Festival of Chaos, which is being staged in Northampton as part of the London 2012 Festival to celebrate the Olympics, and will run from May 18 to July 28. In addition, he will be working with groups at the theatre and will also be developing an original piece of musical theatre during his time at the Royal & Derngate.
