The lives of the men whose names appear on Gretton’s War Memorial have been honoured in an exhibition this weekend.
Gretton and the Great War: 104 Men Remembered is the title of the project by Gretton Local History Society.
Members have been researching the lives and families of all those who appear on the memorial, including discovering seven more Gretton men who died and whose names are missing from the memorial.
In conjunction with Gretton Parish Council, those names will be added.
The group received a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund for the exhibition to display the results of the research, produce a roll of honour for display in Gretton Baptist Church, St James Church, Gretton, and the village hall and a CD Rom and commemorative book.
The exhibition will be at the village hall on Saturday and Sunday from 11am until 5pm. There will also be be a short service at 11.15am on Saturday on the village green to dedicate the seven extra names on the memorial and remember those who died.
