A logistics charity which helps out the county’s essential services in times of need has been presented with a cheque by staff at a supermarket chain.

Northants 4x4 Response has been recognised as a deserving cause by the staff and customers of Asda’s supermarkets in Kettering and Corby.

Having been chosen as one of the supermarkets’ three causes, Northants 4x4 Response collected a cheque at the end of last month.

Asda customers voted with tokens on which worthy cause to support.

The response team is made up of volunteers from all over Northamptonshire who offer their time and four-wheel drive vehicles to help move equipment or people when the road conditions are difficult after heavy snow or flooding, or where access is required across rough terrain.

As winter approaches, the team is looking for more volunteers willing to brave the inclement weather to help others in their community. Being able to support some of the county’s vital services by helping people gives a warm feeling of satisfaction whatever the weather.
