An RAF helicopter landed in a field in Stanwick last night (Wednesday) after it experienced an engineering issue in flight.
The helicopter landed at around 6pm and is still in the field now.
A spokesman from the Ministry of Defence said the helicopter is a Merlin, the type currently serving in Afghanistan, and its base is at RAF Benson in Oxfordshire.
The spokesman said: “They had an engineering issue in flight yesterday which required them to carry out a precautionary landing.”
He said the aircraft was looked at briefly last night and it was decided that it would remain on the ground.
The spokesman said the helicopter will stay where it is for the time being and further investgations are set to be carried out today.
