Pupils and staff have settled in at Corby’s newest school.

Corby Primary Academy has opened in the former Exeter Junior School until work is completed on a £6.3m new school building on Oakley Vale estate, which is expected to open in September 2014.

Sponsored by the Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust, the school is initially catering for Foundation Stage to Year 2 pupils but will expand to a full roll of 420 children.

Principal Nikki Lamond said: “We have recruited a highly-skilled and dynamic team of practitioners to offer the best education possible to our children.”

Building work on the new school has now started after the project was held up by the discovery of rare crested newts at the site in Butland Road.
