Proud Lions have raised £1,000 for local children

Thanks to the generosity of customers in Corby’s Tesco, Asda and Morrisons, during the last couple of weeks just over £1,000 has been collected by Corby and District Lions Club.

A club spokesman said: “Just as last year, we intend to give most of this money to help the children of needy families via the town’s four children’s centres and the Surestart programme.”

From other fundraising events Corby Lions have recently given £250 to the Corby Nightlight Project, which provides the homeless with a warm and safe bed for the night during the coldest part of the winter.

Corby Lions are planning to build on the success of their first East Carlton Park Fun Day with another one on Sunday, June 14.

Yet again there will be children’s rides and games, classic cars and plenty of charity and craft stalls to browse.

Other events being planned for 2015 are two horse racing nights in aid of local Brownie and Guide groups in February and April and a magic evening in March.
