Primary school has new headteacher

The new headteacher of a primary school in Corby has said she is looking forward to helping the school flourish.

There had been questions raised in the community surrounding the future of Rockingham Primary School, but new headteacher Rebecca Steed said she wanted the school to play a key role in the community.

Mrs Steed, who has 16 years’ teaching experience, said: “I am really excited and looking forward to the year, bringing in new teaching and learning initiatives. My aim is to move forward and ensure all children succeed. I am also really looking forward to working with the community.”

In a letter announcing the appointment, the David Ross Education Trust, which runs the school, called Mrs Steed “the outstanding candidate”. It added: “Not only has she already made a very positive impression that have laid the foundations for what promises to be a very positive year, but she has also led her previous schools to get outstanding Ofsted judgements.”
