Volunteers are invited to join a painting party at Lakelands Hospice in Corby and it’s hoped many hands will make light work of the sprucing up of its day room.
From Friday, February 8, until Monday, February 11, helpers will be welcome at the hospice, in Butland Road, between 9am and 5pm.
They are being invited to help decorate the day room which is the hub of the hospice. Its community fundraiser Paul Marlow said: “It’s been about five years since the day room was decorated and it needs decorating.
“In the past we have held gardening parties when volunteers have come along and helped out and we thought it would be a good idea to hold a painting party. It will be fun and it will mean the job will get done quicker.
“Many hands make light work. We are planning to having the day room redecorated in time for patients returning to the hospice on Tuesday, February 12.”
Helpers are needed to help move furniture, carry out preparation work and paint the room.
The room is being painted with Dulux magnolia matt emulsion and if anyone has some unopened tins they would be appreciated.
Mr Marlow said: “We have some equipment but any extra brushes and paint rollers would be welcome.
“Even if people can only spare a couple of hours on one of the days, it would be a great help. We’ll be playing music and the kettle will be on.
“The painting party will be a great opportunity for people to have a look round and find out more about what we do.
The hospice is funded by donations and support from the community and it costs £475,000 a year to pay for the services it provides to people in the area with cancer, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease and other life-limiting illnesses.
