Conservative party candidate Geoffrey Simmons has been elected to Wellingborough Council.
A by-election took place yesterday for a new councillor in the Brickhill ward.
The position of councillor representing the Brickhill ward on the borough council became vacant after former Conservative councillor Tony Sharp resigned.
The results were:
Geoffrey Simmons (Conservative) 750 votes
Patricia Ann James (Labour) 316 votes
Jonathon Terence Harrett (Green Party) 189 votes
Jacqueline Louise Norton (Independent) 183 votes
Julie Dorothy White (Liberal Democrats) 149 votes
The total voter turnout was 37.7 per cent and there were 11 rejected votes.
The ward's other two councillors are Lora Lawman and Tim Allebone.
