The Conservative Party’s candidate in the Corby and East Northants by-election, Christine Emmett, was by the Foreign Secretary William Hague yesterday (October 29).
They visited the Whitworths factory in Irthlingborough to tour the company headquarters and factory floor and meet staff.
Secretary of State for Foreign & Commonwealth Affairs William Hague said: “There are businesses that are doing very well in this country through their hard work and the hard work of their employees.
“This business is an example of that – it has doubled in size in the past five years.
“We want more businesses of that kind in this country, but to do that you have to do what this government is doing: reduce the corporation tax, get the banks lending, double the small business rate relief.
“All of these things we’ve done to get businesses really working and thriving again.
“In Christine Emmett you have the chance to get yourself an excellent MP.
“You can get yourself a local MP who knows about business, but also knows about working for charity and knows about the health service.”
Labour leader Ed Miliband is back in the constituency today and yesterday Christine and Neil Hamilton joined UKIP’s Margot Parker on the campaign trail.
