Police name pedestrian killed in a road accident near Finedon

Police have named the man killed when he was hit by a taxi at the weekend as Michael Nuttall, 24, of Northampton.

A police spokesman said: “We are now in a position to name the man who sadly died in the fatal collision on the A510 at the weekend (Sunday, 27 October).

“He has been formally identified as 24-year old Michael Nuttall, of Riverwell, Northampton.

“Mr Nuttall died after being hit by a taxi, a black Peugeot Expert, while he was walking along the A510 near Finedon. The collision happened at about 1.50am on Sunday morning.

“The Collision Investigation Team is appealing for witnesses to the collision and would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen Mr Nuttall in the period leading up to it.

“Mr Nuttall had been socialising in Wellingborough town centre and was at the taxi rank in Orient Way at around midnight. He is believed to have got into a yellow taxi but then got out before it left the taxi rank.”

Witnesses to the collision, or anyone who saw Mr Nuttall in Orient Way or walking along the A510, is asked to call the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174615 or Northamptonshire Police on 101.
