Police called over large Rushden puddle in otherwise quiet night – despite storm warnings

Despite warnings of storms caused by the remnants of Hurricane Gonzalo, police in Northamptonshire say they were called out to just two incidents overnight – including a large puddle in Rushden.

The Met Office yesterday forecast a gusts of up to 50mph inland as a result of the tailend of the Atlantic hurricane sweeping eastwards across the UK.

A yellow weather warning had been issued by forecasters for the East Midlands region.

But Northamptonshire Police were only called about two incidents overnight on Monday/Tuesday – the large puddle in Rushden and a metal gazebo which was blown into the road in Moulton.

However, the worst of the weather may not be over yet, with strong winds predicted to continue well into this afternoon (Tuesday, October 21).
