NORTHAMPTONSHIRE Police are encouraging residents to be vigilant following a string of distraction burglaries during March.

The first happened in Wellingborough on March 7, the second in Kettering on March 23, and three in Northampton on March 26, March 27 and March 29.

The incidents have involved an offender entering houses and stating that they were a builder, working in the street, or pretending to be from the police.

Police are asking anyone who has contact with an elderly or vulnerable person to pass on gentle crime prevention reminders to help prevent them from becoming a victim of doorstep crime. The advice can be found at www.northants.police.uk/lookout.

If you have any suspicions or concerns that doorstep rogue traders or distraction burglars are operating in your community or targeting someone you know, please contact the dedicated doorstep crime hotline on 0345 23 07 702. If a crime is in progress, dial 999.
