At their December business meeting, Wellingborough Lions pledged their support for the Lions Clubs International Foundation’s Ebola Orphans Relief Aid Programme.
There are more than 5,000 orphans in the four countries affected by ebola. LCIF has already given a $150,000 grant from its disaster fund to the local Lions to be utilised for immediate need.
These funds will be used for food, sanitation, education and stigma of the disease through local Lions in all the affected countries for short and long-term projects for ebola orphans.
Wellingborough Lions will be arranging a fundraising event for this project in the new year.
