A call has been made for improvements to mobile telephone service for residents in villages around Corby.
Cllr Rob McKellar, who represents Weldon and Gretton on the borough council, has launched a petition on the Government website for an upgrade.
He said: “Living in a village shouldn’t mean being deprived of luxuries like broadband and mobile telephone coverage. The Government is addressing the broadband issue and both Weldon and Gretton are due to receive their upgrades shortly.
“Mobile telephone coverage however continues to be problematic in parts of both villages, and indeed in the other villages surrounding Corby.
“Hopefully if the campaign can gather enough support we will be able to encourage a funding commitment before the end of the year.”
