Young football players used pedal power to raise cash to pay for kit and training sessions.

Members of Kettering Football Club’s girls’ under 14 and under 12 teams and their coaches took turns on a cycling machine during the sponsored event on Saturday (March 16) in the Newlands Centre, in the town.

From 10am until 4pm, they each completed 15 minutes cycling and there was also a chocolate tombola with dozens of prizes.

Coach Simon Aston said: “We are hoping to recruit more girls, from eight years old, and women so that we can have additional teams.

“Most of our young players took part in the sponsored cycle and they did a great job.”

The club is also looking for additional coaches.
