Proposals to regenerate the Nene Park site will be unveiled at a public consultation later this month.
The plans for the former home of Rushden & Diamonds Football Club include a new multi-use football facility for use by the community.
In addition, a family leisure and entertainment zone could be created together with a retail zone, with the hope of complementing the town centre and other proposed developments in the area.
It is hoped the plans will help to publicise town centre shops and provide additional car parking to strengthen the use of Irthlingborough town centre.
Elements of the heritage of Rushden & Diamonds FC will be conserved in a new setting, it has also been proposed.
The proposals will go on show to the public at Huxlow Science College in Irthlingborough from 4pm to 7pm on Friday, September 19, and from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, September 20.
