Heron Foods, the family-owned food retailer which sells frozen food as well as chilled and dry products, has applied for permission to put up signs outside a unit in Gold Street, Wellingborough.

It is looking to open in the unit next to the Barnardo’s charity shop and has applied for consent to put up an internally illuminated fascia sign, one externally illuminated free standing 5m high totem sign and one free standing 2.4m high totem sign.

The company, which opened its first store in Hull in 1979 and now has more than 230 stores trading throughout the the north of England and the Midlands, has also been advertising for staff for the new store.

The position of store manager has been advertised online as a full-time permanent position.

The job advert states: “As a store manager/retail manager of Heron Foods Ltd, it’s your store.

“As a store manager you will need to ensure that your branch is open and ready for trading at all specified times.”

The application for consent to display advertising at the new store will be considered by Wellingborough Council’s planning committee.
