A pilot scheme has been launched in Corby to help elderly residents with dementia.
Several care homes are exploring the potential of table tennis as a therapy for patients in the early stages of Alzheimer’s.
Care homes included in the pilot scheme are Shaw Healthcare’s Sandalwood Court, Avery’s Seagrave House, HC-One’s Glenmoor House and Orchard Care Homes’ Willowbrook House.
Corby creative consultancy Ravenous For Art is taking part. Its creative director Ian Craigton-Chambers said: “This is a tremendous opportunity for the town, to be at the inception of a major piece of medical research and the instigation of a care home pilot scheme that will both resonate and be implemented nationwide.”
