PICTURE: Spectacular ‘blood moon’ eclipse

Astronomers came out in force to take in the spectacular views of the ‘blood moon’, the combination of a super moon and lunar eclipse, in the early hours of this morning.

Former Northants Telegraph chief photographer Glyn Dobbs’ fantastic picture shows the stages of the eclipse, which took place between 2.30am and 3.30am.

The next lunar eclipse visible from the the UK is due in January 2019, but a ‘blood moon’ won’t be on show again until 2033.
