Hundreds of people took to the streets over the weekend to raise money for Sport Relief.

Among the events which were held as part of Sport Relief, which brings together the worlds of sport and entertainment to raise money to help vulnerable people in both the UK and the world’s poorest countries, were runs in Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough and at Barnwell Country Park.

Swimathons also took place at Kettering Swimming Pool, Waendel Leisure Centre in Wellingborough, Splash Pool in Rushden and The Nene Centre in Rushden.

The BBC reported that more than £55m was raised nationally on the launch night for Sport Relief, Friday night, with totals from the weekend to be added.
