An 84-year-old driver escaped unhurt after reversing his Citroen 30 yards out of a Corby car wash and ending up on top of a wall.

The accident happened at about 10am today (Wednesday, October 31) in Oakley Road.

A police spokesman said: “Fortunately the driver was not injured. We understand that he reversed out of the nearby car wash for about 30 yards and the vehicle ended up on a garden wall.”

Simon Russell, who lives at the property which is owned by his father, said: “I heard a loud bang and went outside to find out what had happened.

“The workers from the car wash rushed to help the driver out of his car and I took him inside for a hot drink.

“I don’t know how the accident happened but the main thing is the gentleman wasn’t hurt.”
