The start of term may be weeks away but help is at hand for parents and pupils who may be looking to bag an early bargain and reduce waste at the same time.

Northamptonshire’s Waste Education Team, a partnership project between Northamptonshire County Council and the seven district and borough councils, has organised three Back to School Buy Recycled roadshows offering information on where to buy recycled school stationery, clothing and bags.

They will also be offering advice for schools interested in how they can reduce the waste they create.

Young people can go along to enter the competition to win a recycled bag with recycled stationery.

The roadshows will be at Asda, off Northfield Avenue, Kettering, from 10am and 3pm on Tuesday, August 7, Morrisons, Oxford Street, Wellingborough, from 10am to 3pm on Friday, August 10, and Abington Street in Northampton from 10am to 3pm on Thursday, August 23.

Cllr Chris Miller, chairman of the Northamptonshire Waste Partnership, said: “We will have information on how to reduce, reuse and recycle at schools for those wanting some handy recycling hints, and I would encourage mums and dads to pay a visit and see what recycling tips they can pick up before the new term starts.”
