Two friends from Barton Seagrave are tackling a 3.5-mile sponsored swim along the Solent on Monday, to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Justine Scarvaci and Heather Payne have been training at Wicksteed Park lake and at Kettering Pool.

They will be part of a group of 22 swimmers taking part in the Ian Pratt Solent Swim Challenge.

Justine said: “We found out about the challenge through Facebook.

“Motor Neurone Disease is an awful condition but there is not a lot of awareness about it. That’s why we wanted to help.”
