Motorists are being advised to expect additional journey times on the A14 between junction 1 and the M1 junction 19 at Catthorpe on the night of Monday, August 11.
A police-led rolling road block will be set up on the westbound carriageway to allow contractors to remove overhead cables.
Similar work on the eastbound carriageway will require a full closure.
Highways Agency assistant project manager David Reed, said: “In both cases the work should take no more than 15 minutes but several factors, including traffic levels, will determine when the work will take place.
“As soon we can start the work, we will implement the closure on the eastbound carriageway.”
The work could take place anytime between 9pm and 6am, although the agency says it hopes to complete the work before midnight.
During the closure of the eastbound carriageway traffic will be diverted southbound along to M1 to junction 15 and along the A45 to rejoin the A14 at junction 13.
