Tonight’s open meeting is for anyone interested in finding out more about how people in the Rushden area can support refugees, including through local charities and by potentially providing accommodation within East Northants.

It follows a recent training event by Citizens UK of some volunteers from Wellingborough and Rushden and a public meeting held by the East Northants Faith Group last Autumn.

All are welcome at the meeting which starts at 7.30pm tonight (Thursday) at the Bridge community office in the grounds of Whitefriars Junior School in Boughton Drive, Rushden.

The meeting is likely to include an update on the recent Citizens UK training in Wellingborough for people wanting to welcome refugees, hearing about the work of local charities Jungle Care and Helpful Humans in providing practical help, and encouraging any churches or other groups wanting to take part in the Government’s Community Sponsorship scheme to house or support one or more families (subject to the consent of county and district councils).
