Russia and Japan have dominated the judo medals so far but the British team are still in with a chance in both men’s and women’s categories.
Judo is a hugely popular sport in the UK with more than 20,000 “Judoka” taking part every week.
The sport’s participants tend to be children and young people with almost 70 per cent of participants being below the age of 19.
Judo is a fantastic way to keep fit and judo clubs are the best place to take part.
Kettering Premier Judo Club is offering adults the chance to come along and give it a try over the next few weeks starting on Thursday, August 9.
The cost is just £5 for the day and you can even borrow a suit until you feel you want to commit to buying your own.
