A multi-cultural event is being held at Oakley Vale Community Centre, aimed at celebrating the estate’s diversity and welcoming newcomers.

It is being held at the centre in Butland Road on March 16, from 11.30am until 3pm.

Organised by Corby Voluntary and Community Services, the borough council and county councillor Mary Butcher, the free event will include a host of activities, from dancing displays to henna painting and a taste of food from other countries.

Cllr Butcher said: “Corby’s Polish and African communities will be involved in the event, along with other cultures.

“As well as helping people who are new to the Oakley Vale area to integrate, we will be celebrating Corby’s diversity and giving people the chance to find out more about other cultures and traditions.

“Everyone living on the estate is welcome to come along and take the opportunity to make new friends.

“If people from elsewhere want to pop in and see what’s going on, they are welcome too.”
