Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough’s train operator says it hopes to raise thousands of pounds as part of a charity venture tomorrow (Friday, September 26).
East Midlands Trains has announced it will again be supporting the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning this Friday (26th September) in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Passengers will have the opportunity to make a donation on board trains and in booking offices or enjoy a slice of a cake in a number of First Class lounges.
Head office and maintenance depot staff are holding their own cake sales to raise additional funds for the charity.
Neil Micklethwaite, customer service and commercial director at East Midlands Trains, said: “We’re looking forward to again supporting Macmillan Cancer Support by getting involved with the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. Our passengers will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy a slice of cake, or simply make a donation if they wish.
“Many of our staff and passengers will have been affected by cancer in some way and I am sure the charity will be well supported again this year and hopefully we can beat the £5,700 we raised last year!”
East Midlands Trains will be supported by its catering partner Rail Gourmet. As well as getting its trolley staff involved in helping to raise money, Rail Gourmet will also be making a donation from its tea, coffee and cake sales.
