Northamptonshire MPs reveal their preferred boundary changes

The Boundary Commission for England revealed its proposals in September, which saw a number of changes to Conservative MP Peter Bone’s Wellingborough constituency in particular.

Under the plans, which are still at the draft stage, Finedon would be transferred to the Kettering constituency; Bozeat, Easton Maudit, Grendon, Strixton and Wollaston would join the Northampton South constituency; and Great Harrowden, Hardwick, Isham, Little Harrowden and Orlingbury would become part of the Daventry & Lutterworth constituency.

Mr Bone is opposed to all the above changes and is holding a series of public meetings to guage the level of support for his campaign to stop the changes.

They are taking place on Thursday, November 10, from 7pm at St Mary’s Church Community Hall, Allens Hill, Bozeat; on Friday, November 11, from 7pm at Finedon Town Hall, Berry Green Road; Monday, November 14, from 7pm at Wollaston Village Hall, High Street; and on Friday, November 18, from 6.30pm at Isham Village Hall, Church Street.

In their submission to the commission, Mr Bone and his fellow MPs Tom Pursglove (Corby) and Philip Hollobone (Kettering) also propose formally changing the names of the constituencies to Corby and East Northamptonshire and Wellingborough and Rushden.

They also have views on the Conservative Party’s counter-proposals for boundary changes, including the notion that the Corby Old Village ward should be transferred to the Kettering constituency.
