Northamptonshire MPs reveal list of free gifts, trips abroad and donations to campaign funds

The freebies and cash injections to constituency funds are revealed in the Register of Members’ Financial Interests, dating back to 2015.

Four MPs are listed, with three having not received any free gifts or donations.

Wellingborough MP Peter Bone received six tickets to three American football games from NFL UK.

He took in Miami Dolphins’ clash with the New York Jets, Buffalo Bills against Jacksonville Jaguars, and Kansas City Chiefs’ match with Detroit Lions. Each pair of tickets was valued at £298.

London & Partners Ltd donated Mr Bone an American football helmet, jersey and dinner, worth £380.

He was also given one ticket with hospitality for Arsenal’s fixture with Everton by the Premier League, valued at £510.

Mr Bone was also able to enjoy a spot of golf at The Open after being given two hospitality tickets by R & A Championships Ltd. The tickets were valued at £520.

Daventry’s Conservative MP Chris Heaton-Harris was also given hospitality tickets to Arsenal against Everton, with his pair worth £1,020, as well as three tickets to Chelsea’s clash with Watford worth £135.50.

Sanjeev Gupta paid for Mr Heaton-Harris to take a return helicopter flight from Northants to a party fundraising event in Yorkshire, worth £1,865.

The Daventry Conservatives were given a financial boost after being donated £20,000 by prominent businessman Alexander Termerko and £10,000 by David Ross for Mr Heaton-Harris’s campaign fund.

Mr Heaton-Harris said he does not comment on expenses as all of his are already a matter of public record.

MP for Corby and East Northants Tom Pursglove’s campaign fund was also on the receiving end of a donation by Mr Termerko, being given £6,666.66.

The Jamaican Tourist Board paid for the young Tory to take a week-long trip to Jamaica last year, with flights and accomodation valued at £1,824.

Whilst there he visited a community project to donate sports equipment, talked with ministers and watched cricket games.

Northampton South’s Conservative MP David Mackintosh has also been abroad after a number of donations.

He went on five-day trip to Bangladesh for a social action visit, with flights and accomodation £730 paid for by the Conservative Friends of Bangladesh.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Saudia Arabia) paid a for four-day trip to Riyadh to for meetings to further understanding of the nation, with flights and accomodation worth £2,888.

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria also paid for a week-long trip to Hanoi in Vietnam to see the work of The Global Fund, with flights and accomodation £3,549.

Philip Hollobone (Kettering), Andrea Leadsom (South Northants) and Michael Ellis (Northampton North) did not receive any donations.

Mr Bone, Mr Pursglove and Mr Mackintosh have all been contacted for a comment.
