The Northamptonshire Community Foundation has handed out almost £100,000 to groups in the county to give them a helping hand.

The foundation gave out a total of £94,400 to 24 groups during the last week of June.

Grants director Rachel McGrath said: “We have funded an array of groups across Northamptonshire doing exciting and much needed activity including youth clubs and activities for older people, local heritage, improving green spaces, sports and dance, activity enhancing village life and supporting young parents and children.

“The grants panels took place during philanthropy week which raises awareness about the role of giving and philanthropy in the community.”

Among the groups in the Telegraph’s area which received funding were the Brigstock Handbells, Desborough Town Football Club, the Mawsley Villagers Association, and a number of other groups.
