Northampton bar staff who have received special training in responsible alcohol retailing have recieved praise from a town MP.
Peroni brewers, SABMiller, held the event with Michael Ellis MP to highlight the importance of responsible retailing practices.
The course in the 2003 Licensing Act is designed for all retailers, bar and pub staff to tackle alcohol-related crime and anti-sociable behaviour.
In partnership with the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII), SABMiller funded 100 scholarships in the town, to help bar employees.
The programme, run by the BII, is designed to give staff the confidence to deal with aggrieved customers and manage conflict situations.
Successful candidates gain a Ofqual-accredited Level 1 Award in Responsible Alcohol Retailing (ARAR) from the BII.
