Corby will be without a main post office when its Alexandra Road branch closes in January, with no alternative venue yet lined up.

The branch, currently based in the Co-op which is due to close itself the same month, will shut for the last time at 6pm on Saturday, January 23.

Customers are being advised to use the town’s alternative branches in The Jamb, Studfall Avenue and Willowbrook Road until another venue is found in the town centre.

Post Office regional manager Julia Marwood said: “I would like to apologise for the inconvenience the temporary closure may cause.

“The provision of a post office service to our customers in the local community is important to us, and we will continue to work hard to restore services in the area as soon as possible.”

She added that the Post Office would welcome any applications from potential retail partners interested in running Corby Post Office on its behalf.

Interested parties can call 0845 601 6260. The vacancy is being advertised on the Post Office website and has a closing date of December 31.
