A TOWN’S air cadet squadron has a new commanding officer.
Flying Officer Gina Gilbert has taken over at the helm of 422 (Corby) Squadron, replacing Flight Lieutenant Rob McKellar, who has left to pursue his political career ambitions.
The change of command comes following a three-year period under the leadership of Flt Lt McKellar, during which time the squadron grew from 12 cadets to 76.
The new commander already has lots planned for the coming months including hikes in the peak district, leadership courses for the older cadets and a summer canoeing weekend.
The Corby Air Cadets meet on Mondays and Thursdays between 7pm and 9.30pm at the TA Centre in St Mark’s Road, Corby.
The organisation is open to boys and girls between 13 and 18-years-old and uniform is provided free. For details visit www.422corbyatc.co.uk.
