New sports and dance leaders courses are being launched in Corby.

Offered by Corby Council’s sports development team, the sports leaders course will start on June 6, and will run every Thursday until August 1.

The course is for people over 16 and sessions will be held at West Glebe Pavilion, Corby, from 6pm until 9pm. The cost is £35 and candidates will be expected to complete 10 hours of voluntary work after the completion of the course in order to gain the community sports leader award.

The dance leaders course costs £25 and sessions will be held at Lodge Part Sports Centre in Shetland Way, Corby.

It starts on Friday, May 31, from 6pm until 8pm, and sessions will be held every week.

Candidates must be over 13 and there are only 15 places available on the course.

Corby Council’s lead member for community, Cllr John McGhee, said: “Over the years Corby has become big on sport with more and more opportunities arising for people to get involved in different clubs and activities. These courses are for those passionate about encouraging and supporting others in taking part and hopefully those interested won’t pass up the opportunity to be able to do so. I would urge residents to sign up now to avoid disappointment as spaces are limited.”
