A town’s crematorium has space for about 3,500 new grave plots, thanks to a recent expansion.
Kettering Crematorium, in Rothwell Road, Kettering, has space for thousands of new plots thanks to the council recently funding a major expansion.
It will mean that there will be room for graves in the cemetery for about 18 months.
Councillor Ian Jelley, portfolio holder for communications at the council, said: “We’ve invested in the crematorium space and have made this space available because Kettering Council is very forward thinking.
“It’s such a difficult time when you lose a family friend or a loved one, and as a council, we need to make sure it’s done properly.”
Space for the new plots has now been allocated, and the council is planning to organise an official opening of the new area in the next few months.
