Swimmers completed a total of 15 miles to raise thousands of pounds in aid of a charity for people in distress or despair.
A total of 26 people took part in the annual Kettering and District Samaritans’ annual swimathon at Wellingborough Swimming Pool on Saturday.
Organiser and Samaritan Pat Dickie, of Kettering, said: “It was brilliant. Everybody there enjoyed it.”
Katie Swain and her nine-year-old daughter Alana managed a mile each.
Samaritan Chris Piper swam two miles himself, which was 128 lengths of the pool.
Mrs Dickie thanked the pool, saying the manager provided drinks to the swimmers.
The sponsorship money is yet to be counted, but Mrs Dickie hopes the event will have raised more than £2,000 for the branch.
Last year it raised £2,800.
To sponsor the swimmers, visit the branch in Montagu Street, www.virginmoneygiving.com/ketteringanddistrict samaritans or send a cheque made out to the Samaritans to 111 Montagu Street, Kettering, NN16 8XL.
