Corby Council is set to go live with an online lottery scheme after getting unanimous support from councillors.
Corby’s new lottery scheme, which will launch sometime in the new year, will allow residents to buy tickets for just £1 each, with 50 per cent of their stake going to a local good cause of their choice.
The new initiative was approved unanimously by members of the council’s One Corby Policy Committee at a meeting last night (Tuesday).
Any local groups or causes will be welcome to sign up, including those without registered charity status, and all applicants will be approved through Corby Council’s Grants Committee.
Corby Council leader Cllr Tom Beattie said: “The online lottery is a great way to support the good causes we have in Corby and also gives members of the public the chance to support them in an easy and affordable way.
“I look forward to the launch of our new scheme and would encourage local groups, causes and charities to apply when the opportunity arises.”
