Plans have been submitted to convert an agricultural building into a micro-brewery in the north of the county.

Lower Lodge Farms wants to use the building at Braybrooke Farm, halfway between Braybrooke and Little Bowden, to produce up to 5,771 pints of beer per brewing day.

Micro-breweries are all the rage, with Hart Family Brewers in Wellingborough making a huge success of its venture.

The brewery would not be open to the public and there would be no retail element, so it is not yet known at this stage where the beer would end up.

The site would employ either one or two people to operate it.

A planning statement said: “The micro-brewery would employ one or two people who would travel the site daily by car.

“There would be no retail element on the site for visiting members of the public.

“The proposed operation for this site is a relatively modest scale for a micro-brewery.

“It would be a 20 barrel unit so with c.164 litres (36 gallons) per barrel this would give a total of c.3280 litres per brewing day.”

A decision is expected by January 5 next year.
