Students spoke about their aspirations for the future to Andy Sawford, during his first official visit in the constituency as new MP for Corby and East Northants.

He visited Corby Business Academy on Friday (November 23) when he held a question and answer session with sixth formers at the school.

Mr Sawford said: “It was really interesting to meet the young people at Corby Business Academy and hear their views on politics.”

Year 13 student Paige McIlhatton said: “It was interesting because I have never taken an interest in politics, but it’s good to know that our new MP is going to take on board the opinions of the younger generation.”

After the meeting with students, Mr Sawford was given a tour of the school by its principal John Henrys.

Later in the day he visited Corby’s new Rooftop Art Gallery and Workshops, in the former library above Queens Square, which is being run by volunteers to promote the arts in the town.
