The new chairman of the county’s Women’s Institute has said it is a great honour to take up the role.
Sue Kendall has been named as the new county chairman.
Her involvement with the WI started when she joined Pipewell and Rushton WI in October 1998.
She quickly rose through the ranks to become president for three years from October 2005.
She became a WI adviser in 2005 and was invited to join the board of trustees in 2009.
Newsletter editor was her next role for two years and chairman of the membership and training sub-committee before being appointed as vice-chairman in 2013.
Sue was born in Kent and is married to Dennis, whom she met in Australia. She then moved to Burton Latimer.
The new vice-chairmen are Margaret Foster of Warkton WI and Anne Seckington of Brackley WI.
Sue said: “It is a great honour to be elected county chairman and I am excited about taking on this new role. With the National Centenary in 2015 and Northamptonshire Federation’s own centenary in 2018 there is so much to celebrate about the WI.”
Sue is a keen supporter of Arsenal and Kettering Town football clubs, following her great nephew’s cricketing and sporting achievements and travel.
Sue and Dennis work together buying and selling football programmes.
She also keeps in close touch with friends whom she has known since her time at primary school.
