A new prestige car dealership hopes to double its staff by expanding its business to offer servicing.

Chariots Specialist Cars opened in Holdenby Venture Park, Kettering, with 10 staff on January 3, but is already thinking about expanding to offer servicing in the coming months.

Marketing manager Carol Hulcoop said: “We have opened the doors to prestige cars, classic cars and bikes.

“We are going to doing servicing of all makes but we have to employ more people and install equipment.

“Things should be happening mid-February. We will employ more technicians and receptionists and expand the business.”

The former Mercedes dealership, which now sells used Mercedes, Jaguars, BMWs and Audis, already employs 10 sales and office staff.

But Mrs Hulcoop said another 10 workshop staff and administrators could be taken on if the business starts servicing cars from March as planned.

Kettering Council member responsible for regeneration Mark Dearing said: “It can only get better.

“As far as I’m concerned we are here to create the jobs as best we can.

“It’s really exciting we have got someone and already talking about expanding the business.

“It’s brilliant. It’s 10 jobs and we are really desperate for jobs in this country. Any business is welcome. I’m delighted to hear they are doing well.”

Robert Mullen, 67, of Brambleside, Kettering, said: “It would be nice especially if they get an apprentice there. You have to look after the young ones.”
