Jewkes Bridal Sales is hoping for success without a hitch after opening in Queen Street, Rushden.

Set up by Bernice Quadling and her sisters Emily, Maria and Rena, it sells bridal wear, bridesmaids’ dresses, tiaras and veils at discount prices.

Bernice, a former children’s nursery manager, said: “Opening a bridal shop is a dream my sisters and I have always had.

“I’ve got four girls, including 18-month-old twins, and thought ‘what can I do next?’ so now was the perfect opportunity to open the shop.

“I live in Wellingborough but there are two bridal shops there already and I like Rushden as a town.

“Everything is new but we’ve managed to buy it at a discount price.”

The shop is having an open day on Saturday from 10am to 5.30pm with a show of dresses from 1pm.

Bernice said: “Normally we open during the week from 6pm to 8.30pm, Saturdays from 10am to 5.30pm and Sundays from 8am to 4pm.

“We will make appointments to see people during the week as well.”
